Tony Hawk (series) (also abbreviated as TH + Beginner in the corresponding subtitle) is a series of computer games with a focus on Skate, with professional skateboarder Tony Hawk as the main personality.
According to Joel Jewett, co-founder of Neversoft, a series emerged due to Activation demand when it was perceived, in new years, with Skate's popularity at the time]. The first game was inspired by a Sega arcade, or the Top Skater of 1997. This fact is visible in the third map of the game, Mall New York, which records for being a great descent from point A to point B, as well as the Top Skater map designs. The title of the game is named after Tony Hawk, as the distributor needed a big name to sell the game. Hawk helped a little with ideas and was not measuring his career for years to come.
The first games in the series had great success in the late nineties and early two thousand, so it encouraged other developers to create titles similar to the Shaba Games' Grind Session - Konami's Evolution Skateboarding and Neversoft also developed the Pro Kelly Slater's surfer in 2002.
Most of the games that make up the series have been modified by Neversoft, also well known for the Guitar Hero game series, and distributed by Activision. Some titles like Tony Hawk: Mount were shown by Robomodo later, after the closure of Neversoft, taking the place of the same main developer of the series with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 had already lost its notoriety since the title Tony Hawk's Project 8 of 2006.
